Episode 172: s-CRY-ed/Scarydough Creed

We’ve got a great show this week. The Manga Pulse guys join us for a joint review of s-CRY-ed. I’m recovering from a bout of laryngitis so I apologize for the flatness of my voice. We also talk about the news, the worst week ever when Murphy comes for a visit and review Viper’s Creed.

  1. I watch s-CRY-ed on Adult Swim (you know those jerks that got rid of the anime) and i would say it was a rating of: Wouldn’t kick it out of bed for crackers.

  2. On the topic of bad weeks I know how you feel.

On Wednesday I got into a car crash, no body hurt, but $5000 of damage to my car,

and then late Thursday night/early Friday morning I ended up breaking my right foot,

then the next day the nurse at the ER knocked my laptop off the bed and broke the screen.

All I have to say is I’m glad I have full insurance on them all. So it will only cost me about $500 for such a terrible three days.

I can only hope my luck will swing to the opposite end soon.

  3. I knew it i just knew it that s-CRY-ed was bad thank god i didn’t buy the boxset years ago
once again keep up the goodness

  4. While everything you guys said about Viper’s Creed was correct and valid, I think you need to step back and look at exactly what you should be expecting out of this show. I think a disservice was done here because when you look at, there’s two things that stand out to me: produced by Sony Pictures and directed by Shinji Aramaki. Neither are associated with anything remotely deep and thoughtful. Shinji Aramaki does totally rad transforming motorcycle mech designs, and awesome action scenes, and not much else. Sony Pictures has a great CGI studio, and it’s always been my contention that if there is one aspect of digital animation that has definitely improved on anime, it’s that mech battles and animation has gotten a lot better because of it. I think trying to find interesting characters, a sensible plot, or even meaningful story is not what to expect here. I expected awesome transforming mechs and cool battle scenes, and for the most part, I got that. Admittedly, ep 6 and 7 (especially 7 I think) were really crappy, but those first three episodes were pretty rad.
