Space Dandy needs a plot thread about as much as Seinfeld does. It’s really smart that Dandy doesn’t have a continuity to follow. It’s perfect for a channel like Cartoon Network, because you can just pick up on any episode without needing to learn back-story.
Also, I have to disagree with the term “rinse-and-repeat” That makes it sound like the same plot is happening every episode. Tabula rasa is a much more appropriate classification.
The best part of this episode was Red singing. That was beautiful.
So one thing that really wasn’t stressed was that each episode of Space Dandy has a different creative team. In essence, Space Dandy is a sandbox setting. It is an anime industry talent show. It’s far more interesting knowing this. If you like a director or writer, find out which episode they did to check out their work.
