Re: VGP 313 Discussion Topic: Studio Closures

I consider an acquisition by a big pub like EA or Activision to be no different than a closure. Sooner or later it happens.
Thus I bid a fond farewell to Obsidian, swallowed into Microsoft like so many others.

Re: AP 576 - Rose Tinted

Before the 90’s a lot of Japanese animation had evolved to quite detailed and elaborate artwork, BUT the number of tween frames were severely lacking, barely sufficient in number and made for choppy action. But with the increased use of computer assisted animation tools, their anime rapidly improved...

Re: AP 575 - First Impressions

Last Exile had me right off the start with their obvious love for flight. I was immediately hooked by its skyscape visuals, epic battles and steampunkish aesthetic. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1bV9dKEFnPc/Tpj2A39DC3I/AAAAAAAAAew/2OAeb2EeLsU/s1600/last_exile.jpg I could name more, but that is enough fo...

Re: AP 574 - Art Style

MainerBert already mentioned one of my all-time favs, Range Murata. So I was at a loss for adding to that one. I loved Blue Submarine 6 and the two Last Exile series. I then recalled that I really like Ufotable’s take on the Fate series. They take the visuals and character designs from the iconic vi...

Re: AP 573 - Show Music/Vehicles

I once dreamed of having my own gundam or Varitech mecha, but they're not really practical for transportation unless it is to go to battle. I have mentioned before in the topic about anime worlds to live in that I would love to travel about the colonies and other locations of Cowboy Bebop in somethi...

Re: AP 572 - Subs and Dubs

Please don't forget Part two of the question of the above, folks, which I think distinguishes this from the stereotypical question in the first part. What shows are the exceptions , if any, to your usual position of "sub versus dub". Speaking for myself, I will say that I usually prefer a subtitle t...

Re: AP 571 - Games (Flipped)

Some of the Youtube animated comedic shorts of games like Skyrim oor Fallout 4 were pretty enjoyable. But I am unsure of whether they'd make good Anime series. Maybe as anime shorts.

I think however, I would rather see an Anime series made of something like Deus Ex.

Re: AP 570 - Q. Mo Moe Mo Problems

I tend to look at character aspects in anime and other media, such as Moe, as one of several ingredients that the creator/writer/artist can call upon. Each of these is available as one component for use in a given work and are meant to be used when and where appropriate. As such, too much of a good ...

Re: AP 569 - Q. Crossover

Can one imagine the world in which all of the titles from one prolific studio or one prolific director were really part of a shared world? Imagine if all of the titles from say, J.C.Staff or Kyoto Animation were connected. The mind boggles at the thought. Haruhi Suzumiyah would totally ruin everythi...

Re: VGP 309 Discussion Topic: Games With Missing Content

It's Activision — almost as bad as EA. This is the same publisher that encouraged Bungie to remove actual content from the initial install of Destiny, only to parcel it out in subsequent DLC, with that content still on the original disc awaiting being unlocked. THAT Activision. (Yeah, I'm still chap...
