Oh, there are far too many favorites to mention. Unfortunately a lot of romances in Anime are not entirely wholesome, let alone have fully consummated happy endings. I can still name a few standouts that come to mind, mostly those that do not devolve to pure romance, but have a good story to go alon...

I don't consider myself the "Occidental Otaku", as that doesn't seem to fit. And none of the other classic tropes fit either.

I can name a number of underrated anime, but I will mention those that first come to mind: Log Horizon (2013-2014) was an early issekai that was overshadowed by SAO.
