Youtube should be your first target for both AP and MP to substantially increase the size of your audience. Compromise if it's more comfortable and just put the podcasts on YouTube with a couple random livestreams. What really matters is the sheer numbers YouTube can easily provide. After that growth can be important again and should be simple just with support through patreon. Give dollar subs a few secret streams and boom you're crowd funded and should have press credentials again soon

I'm definitely the type of person who can easily engage with a podcast and care about the ideas spoken about but I'm guessing that the majority needs more input than spoken word. It would really neatly explain why such a great show has a ghost town for a site.

There's quite a bit more that comes to mind but I'm trying to pick out the most critical things from my perspective at least

I think Youtube is a great platform but I will stick with listening only, adds mystery and "Radio Feel"; and the masses listen to radio.

Diversification of entry points (Paypal, Subscription, Patreon) is great.
