Is there an anime/manga that got you into Otaku culture not to be confused with gateway anime/manga.

Big thanks to Shieldbro Hero for providing the topic on such short notice.

the one show that got me into otaku culture was Infinite Stratos. In reality it was actually a combination of that show and a website called funny mama where people would post anime memes. I was a huge manga reader before but I did not actually get into the whole otaku culture until then.

I guess technically it was "Bubblegum Crisis 2033", which was the Anime I watched while in University that got me back into Anime originally and into the Otaku culture. If you really want to be pedantic, I guess "Doraemon" which was also my very first Anime I watched may count here as it may have sub-consciously got me going down the route of Otakudom?

I guess I would say the Air gear and holic manga. It was really with these that I actively went out and looked online, and expanded my range learning about Italy culture. Before those I love would have only read those of the anime we already knew about.

I have been watching anime since I was a kid. Where I live, we didn't really have access to anything but dubbed anime (not English) when it came to cartoons, so you could pretty much say that all millennials were anime fans. Anime titles that I still remember fondly are: Romeo's Blue Skies, Princess Sarah,Future Boy Conan, Future Boy Conan and many others that I don't think are very popular in the west. There were some popular ones like Doraimon, the original HunterxHunter, Pokemon, Degimon and Detective Conan.

My friend of 11 years introduced me to Naruto back in middle school, and subsequently to One Piece and Bleach. I watched those religiously until the end of high school beside Death Note. I ended up not watching any anime until my housemate recommended HunterxHunter (2011) on my sophomore year in college and haven't looked back since. I consider that to be when I actually became aware of otaku culture and started reading manga and a couple of LNs.

I think the first time I felt like I was deep into Otaku Culture, the anime wasn't directly related to it. I hope i'm answering this question right. Back in my youth, I bought a few fansub VHS copies of Vandread. I was part of my college's anime club, and through that, I got connected to a guy who was selling tapes.

For an anime that actually introduced me to otaku culture, I think I was way into anime before I watched anything that even mentioned the word otaku.I think Welcome to the NHK had something to do with being an otaku? Or was he just a NEET?
