Has an anime's fanbase ever colored your perspective on a show or even made you put off watching it?

Re: AP 645 - Fanbases
I can't in recent memory recall if a fanbase ruined a show for me. I usually try to separate a fanbase from a show, because of the shenanigans (shipping wars, rage comments, etc.). Maybe Attack on good taste, with most people telling how good it was from the start. I remember watching it for the first time and going most of the characters are dumb and will get themselves killed if it weren't for plot armor.
Don't get left, just get on your good foot.
