What are your favourite Black characters in anime?

If I had to name a favorite, it would have to be Agil from the SAO series. I did not think that much of him in the anime so much as the fact he is a great tank in the SAO: Fatal Bullet game based on that same series.


He's the first that comes to mind.
Then there is Dutch from Black Lagoon. I like that he's an integral character to the series without his ethnicity constantly being slammed into your face every episode, and thus a real character.


Other than these two, I never cared that much for some of the "token" characters in most anime -- or more accurately, they just did not stand out. They tend to be two-dimensional because they usually are only there to service a trope.
If we can include Aaron McGruder's The Boondocks as an anime or at least pseudo-anime, then I could also pick the character Huey Freeman.

otherwise, nevermind...

I'll say Simon from Durarara!!. A black russian who can fight a raging Shiuzo to a draw. I'll also take Sowande Sakaki from Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! The power broker of the council, who even Kanamori respects if begrudgingly at times.
