In the last few weeks, I've had an insatiable thirst for more music. So, I've been picking up tons of albums by bands that I've wanted to hear for a while. However, I'm reaching the end of this list and the desire is still strong. So, I'm curious if there are any albums that you guys and gals consider essential to a person's library. They don't really need to be constrained to any specific genre and, of course, it's all a matter of opinions, so don't shy away from sharing what groups you like.
Additionally, this thread could be of use to anyone else who has the same urge to try out some new music. So, to get this started, I'll post a list of albums I highly recommend.
Sing The Sorrow - AFI
Funeral - The Arcade Fire
...Burn, Piano Island, Burn... - The Blood Brothers
Pass The Flask - The Bled
The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me - Brand New

I will edit as more come to me since I'm totally blanking now:
Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against te Machine (Self Titled)
Bleach - Nirvana
Disraeli Gears - Cream
Document - REM
You beat me to it on Downward Spiral, Dookie, Me Against the World and White Pony. Nice list you've got going.
On a side note, a few years ago I would have totally agreed on the Smashing Pumpkins album but find it kind of depressing that a lot of songs from it have shown up in commercials and even the intro Whale Wars. My childhood may not have been that innocent, but it didn't need to get that violated.
EDITS:
Opiate - Tool _________________ Most discipline is hidden discipline, designed not to liberate but to limit. Do not ask Why? Be cautious with How? Why? leads inexorably to paradox. How? traps you in a universe of cause and effect. Both deny the infinite.

Rapid Eye Movement - Riverside
Extinct Instinct - Threshold
Clone - Threshold

I would have to add this one only because it was a perfect compliment to a great book.
"The Heroin Diaries" by SIXX A.M.
And some of my personal favorites:
"Battle Cry" by Omen
"What A Groovy Trick!" (Air Gear OST 1) by Skankfunk
"II" by Miss Crazy
"Famous Monsters" by the Misfits
"13 Halloweens", "The Traveling Vampire Show", and "Midnight Spook Show" by Calabrese
"18 Visions" by 18 Visions (they broke up after this album)
"Three Legs of Trouble" by Stone Rider
"Comatose", "Awake" and "Collide" by Skillet
"Requiem" by the Confession (they broke up after this album)
Also, any of the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona soundtracks by Shoji Meguro. In my opinion, he is just as good as Uematsu. _________________ The nice Germans, they are the Swiss or as they like to say the other white race. I would have to say the Spring Awakening album, it should be for the older audiences for sexual content and language,
also it is a musical theater performance, but it is done in a very alternative way. _________________
