In Flames - Clayman
An older album but I only just bought it. I've been missing out on some good stuff. Probably their most consistent effort, one great song after another and riffs that won't quit. _________________

| Clockwork Angels by Rush. Fantastic album, has a good amount of continuity while still managing to keep the sound fresh all the way through. It's my pick for album of the year so far. |

Thank You Scientist - Maps of Non-Existent Places
Incredible album by an amazing and hard to describe band. The most basic I can boil it down to is "Coheed & Cambria meets The Mars Volta". More like a rock orchestra than a band. Besides the usual guitar-bass-drums, they also employ violin, brass and woodwind instruments, etc. The music has technical complexity but overlaying it are very emotive, almost pop-rock vocals and melodies which make it more accessible.
A lot of energy on this album and definitely one of the best I've heard so far this year.

Bad Religion - True North
I'm always happy when these guys come out with a new album, considering they're the only punk band I listen to.
This new one hits you right from the start with the title track and continues to rattle off one great song after another. In the recent past its taken me a few listens to get into their albums, but this one is an instant winner, combining the slightly more polished sound they've had since The Process of Belief, with the quick, rapid-fire tracks that made their classic albums so great.
