Hi AP guys!
I am conducting a research study for fun to inquire perspectives of cute culture around the world. Japan is a country that is becoming famous for its cute products and culture, and I am interested in how this culture affects surrounding countries (Korea, China, Taiwan) and the U.S.
Below are 10 questions. (Please state your sex (male, female), age, and where you are from if possible so that I can better understand the data I am gathering)
What comes to mind when you think of the word “cute”?
Do you know the word “Kawaii”? If yes where does it originate from?
Do you like cute things? (If yes, what cute things do you like?)
Do you like Hello Kitty? (If yes, explain why, if no, explain why)
Do you own any cute products such as Hello Kitty items? (For example, A Hello Kitty pen, Rirakkuma notepad, and so on )
How is Japan's cute culture influencing the cultures of other countries?
Questions for Guys:
Do you prefer girls who act cute?
Which type of girls are cuter, tall girls or short girls?
Questions for Girls:

Feel free to post any additional comments and insights relating to cute cultures. _________________ HAS ANYONE SEEN MY BUNNY?

What comes to mind when you think of the word “cute”?
Generally good looking women.
Do you know the word “Kawaii”? If yes where does it originate from?
Yes, unfortunately. If my memory serves me, I believe the original term came to be associated with women in The Tale of Genji, to describe women with pitiable (docile) qualities.
Do you like cute things? (If yes, what cute things do you like?)
No.
Do you like Hello Kitty? (If yes, explain why, if no, explain why)
God no.
Do you own any cute products such as Hello Kitty items? (For example, A Hello Kitty pen, Rirakkuma notepad, and so on )
Hell no.
How is Japan's cute culture influencing the cultures of other countries?
In the west? Not very, most western culture see the whole Japanese-cute thing as only targeting children, who eventually grow out of that stage. I can't speak to the perceptions in eastern nations.
Do you prefer girls who act cute?
No.
Which type of girls are cuter, tall girls or short girls?
It really doesn't factor into said girl's desirability. _________________
