I agree wholeheartedly about that one. though my favorite episode was the end of episode 2 with the guy vs copy Mamoru was versus tense and emotional.

If you disagree with Contra perhaps this will change your mind.

I heard Ichigo talking about Saikano, so I decided to check it out. I have to admit that it is definately a tear jerker. The characters become people you really care about.

An emotional scene, to be sure; but they don't compare. The music and imagery of the end of final are so perfectly choreographed that it gets me almost every time.

I'm not sure if this would count as an anime but it did make me cry. The 1984 Transformers animated movie. Even now, I tear up whenever I see Optimus Prime on his death bed (yes I know he comes back but it still makes me tear up).

I second Grave of the Fireflies. Thank you, Den, for the mention.

Also, I admitted teared up at the ned of Cowboy bebop. I still remember my initial reaction was "What! No! Why! Nobody gets a happy ending.... except Ed."

Nearly any series based off a Key game, i.e. Clannad, Air, etc.

Grave of the Fireflies very much so as well

For me the anime would have to be Kanon, Angel Beats, and Grave of the Fireflies

It was pretty good. And you might want to fix that one word post. ^_^*
I don't think I've actually been moved to tears during any anime. The stories are quite nice and all but I don't think I'd cry.

My sentiments exactly. Most good anime series leave me a little sad when they end cause...well, they end.

1.) Clannad afterstory (after watching the first season and getting attached to the characters)
2.) Angel beats (the episode where the main chracters death is explained, did not bring me to tears, but was probably one of the most depressing things I have seen)

The end of Wolf's Rain is super depressing.

Also Code Geass.

You don't know tear-jerker until you see "We still don't know the name of the flower we saw that day" the raw emotions of that show still choke me up now. I'd also have to say that these last few episodes of Steins Gate got me misty as well.

Both the first Pokemon movie, when ash turned to stone, and Full Metal Alchemist, when Maes Hughes dies.

Wolf's Rain
Clannad After Story
Gungrave
Dragon Ball GT but just because I knew it was the last one and I was going to miss Goku, but seriously, it was actually beautifully crafted considering how NOT spectacular I found most of GT.
The end of Big O got me a little choked up and Code Geass R2 was a bit sentimental

Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar, when Sugar 'dies'. That got to me. Now I feel like a big old wuss :D

Wolfwood dying has been mentioned, but that made me more angry than anything else. My favourite character in Trigun died and I remember feeling really p***** off!!! :D

In Ergo Proxy when some of the characters died that was quite sad, not least of all because of how they died. Anyone remember the scene when the little girl's friend (the boy that liked to draw rockets with crayons) was shot in the back of the head by one of those floating killer droid things :O

*Edit* Oh just thought of another two. I thought it was sad when Bellemari (is that spelt right?) Nami's foster mum(?) dies in One Piece defending Nami :O Then there was the doctor that looked after Chopper that died. One Piece tends to do that every so often, twice a year or so someone's mum/dad/protector will pass away :O
