Right on top of it this week.
I'm going to call this the Old vs New question.
When purchasing your anime do you prefer to buy brand new, still sealed, fresh off the production line product or a perviously loved, cherished, well kept product? (this can apply to DVD's, figurines, doujin, and other various anime related products) And with that choice, what is your favorite way to procure this product? (conventions, online, local store, ect.)
Myself, I like to buy used dvds but everything else new; I like to check ahead of time that the dvd is the real thing and not a cheap knockoff. My favorite way to buy them is at conventions, because then I get to carry all my swag back to my hotel room being envied by all those who missed out on my finds. _________________

I always buy new DVDs. I'm suspicious of anything that's already been used, because I don't know what the condition is going to be.
Usually I prefer to buy things in a local store, but since Best Buy has severely cut back the amount of anime they're selling now, when it comes to older or harder to find titles I order online. Same thing with manga that stores aren't carrying. _________________

I've got this small shop that sells used anime merchandise at a pretty nice discount close to where I work. Since I tend to be very very cheap I like to buy some of the used DVDs and a few figures they have. I mean as long as it looks nice (or in the case is DVDs) plays nice its all good to me.
Side note: I don't think that there are many people that would buy a used doujin. Something about that idea just kinda rubs me the wrong way ( pun unintended). |

I like to buy new, but sometimes you just can't pass up those damn good deals on the used ones. Vortex manipulator would let me go forward to when it's cheap, and come back and bank. thaaats how the doctor funds everything. . . . . _________________ The Rizla Suzuki GSX-R 1000 |

Prefer new unless it's some out of print or hard to get limited edition item I really want. And even then, only if I can check it's condition is at a satisfactory level i.e. not completely broken. _________________ xahldera - No zero, No hero... |

Well, living in a desolate arctic town, I have to order online. But when I'm a trip I tend to buy them new. I don't think I've ever bought any used anime merchandise, only just given them _________________ ALL YO YENS, YIP YIP YAP!

i would buy all figures or toys new, but as far as DVD and Blu-Ray goes i have no real preference. it has a lot more to so with availability and price than what the condition is. i do buy most manga new, since there is a book shop near me that sells everything at an at least 15% discount. including manga and graphic novels and all those fun things. _________________ "We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." |

I buy DVDs, books, and cds used. It's not a preference but if I can find something cheaper or more rare than I'll buy used. Otherwise I'll get it "new." _________________

Most of the time I prefer the sealed dvd's that have never been touched by anyone else before...but at the same time I'm kinda cheap and tend to buy my anime used from f.y.e. _________________ Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. | I've always been a fan of the mom and pop, brick and mortar store. They tend to have used items but I'm willing to buy them because I like the atmosphere. I also always feel like I'm being judged by the cashier when I buy at chain stores (ex: Best Buy, FYE). |

I can understand that. It like buying a porno magazine at a gas station, you can almost feel the cashiers judgment. (not that I've ever done that) _________________

I honestly never pay attention to whether my dvds are previously loved or not. Either way, I love anime and I'll buy it new OR used, unless of course the dvd is scratched to hell and doesn't play right. _________________ In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the

| I usually en up buying stuff new, but that's a habit from when I used to work at a Big Box and the discounts were actually decent so there was no benefit to buying used. |
