in the latest episode, Ichigo reviewed a anime with a musical premise. So here is the question I pose. if RedUnit10 want to put a second thread, he can go ahead.
What is your favorite music-based anime or manga?
Mine are K-On! and Angel Beats. _________________ Don't lose your inner light. |

Like Ichigo I'm a big fan of Rah-Xephon, and I also love Nodame Cantabile. _________________

I don't really enjoy animes that revolve around music, like K-on or other music group animes. I do however enjoy anime with good musical intros and out-tros, but music in the anime is not my thing. _________________

I think the only anime I've seen or mange I've read that revolves around music is Nana...so I guess that would be my favorite by default. _________________ Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. The Macross series in general do it for me, but if I had to pick a favorite it'd be Macross 7.
That might have something to do with the main character piloting his giant robot with a guitar. _________________

FLCL I called it, The Pillows totally rocked the dub. Kids beating robots to death with guitars to Little Buster. Defiantly my favorite musically theme anime.
Samurai Champloo, Cowboy BeBob (episode motifs), Eureka Seven (L.F.O.'s and electronica), and Soul Eater are still holding a groovy candle in my heart.
Resonance of soul, Dood.

(I'm hoping these names will jog some memories :)
P.S. Interstella 5555 was cool too. _________________ "Even with your eyes shut, there is still a whole world out there that exists beyond your dreams." - A young Alchemist

K-ON! and Angel Beats?
What.
The.
F*CK!
Jesus people. Beck. FLCL. Maybe Macross..... Acceptable, The first two are good. Seriously though? Nobody points out the best music based anime ever? Classic 80's/90's hair metal + getting the band back together + GIANT SPACE BATTLES WHERE THE SUPER WEAPON IS LITERALLY POWERED BY ROCKING YOUR FACE OFF?!?!
Kacho-Oji. Or, in the more awesome american title. LEGEND OF BLACK HEAVEN.
Seriously. 13 episodes of pure concentrated awesome. Also. Episode 12 of Fan Pulse will have a special treat for you fans of this amazing show.
If you aren't turned on and amped up and itching to see this show after watching the following video? Well, life ain't for everyone.

Same, the musical instrument design and performance animation was phenomenal. _________________

| Of musically themed animes Angel Beats is my favourite, with Senhime Zesshou Symphogear being close second (depends on how it develops). K-ON's first season was pretty good as well. |

Angel beats is based on music....................................?
Wuh.
They do have awesome soundtracks tho
For anime with good music, I'd say Ao No Exorcist, FLCL, Macross Frontier and Black Heaven are the ones that come to mind first. _________________

Mine is easily K-On! the characters are all likable and it's evident that the manga-ka knew something about musical instruments when they came up the concept. The opening and closing songs are catchy. What's not to like about K-On!? _________________

| Now if we're talking about anime based on music then I have to agree with Paltir. Legend of Black Heaven is awesome, end of story. If we're talking about anime with awesome music then I'm going to say Cowboy Bebop and FLCL. |

Detroit Metal City is a great music comedy. The story of a man who wants to be a pop star but somehow lands himself as the front man for a hardcore metal band.
For a serious story I love Beck, holds a close place in my heart. As someone who fancy's himself a guitar player its how I wished my life would have gone.
Oddly, both series are rife with "engrish". Something about that in anime always tickles me funny. |
