I'll start with the PS1 game. Metal gear solid came out in 1998. It was perhaps the first stealth action game. You had to sneak by the enemies undetected instead of just using brute force. The Game revolves around solid Snake, a special stealth troop from the FOXHOUND orgination. He must infiltrate a nuclear facility in Alaska and stop a giant mecha armed with nuclear weapons, and his brother, Liquid snake. Each consequent game revolves around snake and his conflict with liquid.
