Started in October 2005, Anime Pulse is a podcast dedicated to providing quality reviews of the newest anime televised in Japan as well as reviews of recent and classic anime. Anime Pulse provides up-to-date news collected from various online sources, as well as exclusive interviews and recordings of anime-related symposiums and conventions.
Anime Pulse has quickly become one of the largest anime podcasts and is growing larger every day. Recently, Anime Pulse was approached and agreed to do a weekly podcast for TheOtaku.com. This podcast is already a hit with its fans.
Anime Pulse has done interviews with Central Park Media co-founder John O'Donnell, Cosplayer Piano Squall, has recorded the MIT's Cool Japan Symposium and has provided press coverage of Anime Boston.

Anime Pulse has rapidly grown to be one of the leading anime podcasts in the world. With over 9000 downloads per episode in over 70 countries, the show reaches a large variety of listeners. It has been listed in the top 50 podcasts on www.podcastalley.com and was in the hall of fame at www.podcastpickle.com, although the list no longer exists. However, it is currently listed in the top 10 podcasts at the site. Anime Pulse also has an active forum community with over 4500 members.
Anime Pulse releases one show weekly; special episodes containing interviews and recordings of anime-related events are also made available. The weekly show format consists of site and industry news, weekly reviews of several current, long-running popular series, followed by the cast members reviewing and rating new or classic anime series.

In addition to its main presence centered in Boulder, CO, Anime Pulse also has a correspondent located in Boston, MA who covers symposiums and conferences on the East Coast to provide extra content and enhance its value to the listeners.
 Audience Demographics
Anime Pulse has an attractive demographic, with approximately 40% of listeners being in the under 18 age group and approximately 40% in the 18-24 age group. The remaining 20% is spread across age groups 25-74.
With an audience composition of approximately 68% male and 32% female, listener demographics skew towards the gender of the cast but is still appealing to women.
Anime Pulse has an educated listener base: over 50% are college students or graduates.

 Ichigo: Co-founder
Ichigo is the front man for Anime Pulse, responsible for website and show creation and maintenance. He became interested in Japan in 2001 after watching Akira. He spent two years watching as much anime as possible as well as reading and researching Japanese history and culture. In 2003, Ichigo began studying Japanese at the University of Colorado at Boulder through its ACCESS program. He has watched hundreds of anime series, read many manga series and has taken three years of Japanese language education.
Ichigo has a Bachelor's degree in computer science from Lacrosse University and works as a software engineer. At the beginning of July he flew to Japan and is currently working in Nara as a teacher.
 Batou: Co-founder
Batou has been watching anime and reading manga for many years, and after a tour of duty in the Army, started college at University of Colorado at Boulder pursuing a degree in physics and mathematics. He has taken two years of Japanese language education through CU Boulder.
Batou is a senior at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
 Chigo: Commentator
Chigo, aka Chibigodzilla, has been watching anime and reading manga for over two years, and currently attends University of Colorado at Boulder pursuing a degree in computer science. He has taken three years of Japanese language education through CU Boulder.

 Rangiku: East Coast Correspondent
Rangiku has been watching anime and reading manga for a little over a year. She is a professional photographer and teacher, with much experience in the technical industry. She served as a Director for the Boston Computer Society and was the editor-in-chief of its monthly Macintosh magazine. In class, Rangiku uses screenshots from anime to demonstrate classical lighting patterns as well as proper composition and design.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Princeton University and plans to start Japanese language classes in summer 2006.

Anime Pulse Over the last few months we’ve started to see the world of podcasting explode, and so far Anime Pulse is pretty much our favorite for anime reviews. Each week hosts Ichigo and Batou do a great job of reviewing the latest anime and manga from Japan from a true fans point of view.
