Top Japanese physicist dies

Yoji Totsuka became famous when he discovered that the elementary particle called neutrinos have mass. Totsuka who had been a special emeritus professor at the University of Tokyo won Japan’s Order of Culture award in 2004 and 2007. He was also awarded the Franklin Medal at the Franklin Institute awards. He was also a strong candidate for a Nobel prize. He died at the age of 66 from cancer.
