Rhynoo, Jax is not a football player. He’s a member of the Special Forces in MK.
Also, the MK short that got turned into a web series was more than just a “fan film” It had fairly well known (OK, b-c list) actors in it, and the director is actually a pro. He doesn’t have a lot under his belt, but I think he had some backing putting this short together.
