You might not think that we ever get stuck for movies to pick for the show. What with Hollywood alone having been making films for over a century. Giving us a library of media you probably couldn’t watch in your lifetime without sacrificing your personal life and a significant portion of sleep. But that does happen and then we hear about an actor’s passing and it reminds us of their work.
We have Walking Tall(1973). The late and sort of great Joe Don Baker stars in this somewhat autobiographical film based on the real life Buford Pusser. In the film, Buford comes back to his hometown after a wrestling career to find corruption in town. Prostitution, illegal gambling, and moonshining that’s blinding people. So Buford takes on the local crime ring, getting stabbed and shot in the process.
Weltall has the first season of Ted Lasso. The eponymous Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, is an American Footbal coach. He gets hired to go coach football in England, soccer. Because the owner of the team hates the team and wants to destroy it because she wants to injure her ex husband. American in England discovers things are different. That’s pretty much the basis of the show.
Tim has The Killing Time(1987). Beau Bridges is a deputy sheriff in a small northern California town. They have a replacement coming in because Joe Don Baker, playing the local sheriff, is retiring and Beau will take over. Enter Kiefer Sutherland who plays a killer adopting the identity of the incoming deputy. Also Beau’s character is having an affair with the local rich man’s wife.
