Popcorn Pulse 273: Palm River

Have you ever had to do your homework on the school bus on Monday morning? That’s what we had to do for a movie. I no small part because we’re bery professional. So we grabbed a nineties movie off the virtual shelf because Kevin Bacon is in it. It’s supposed to star Meryl Streep but we’re there for the Bacon.

So we have The River Wild(1994). Meryl Streep is a teacher who’s architect husband is always busy. She yells at him and takes the kids to go river rafting. Husband finagles it so he can come along, which she resents because Kevin is flirting with her. It gets a little more complicated when it turns out Kevin and John C Reilly had done a bank robbery and are hiding from police.

Weltall then has In the Grey[2027]. It’s a Guy Ritchie movie where people do Guy Ritchie dialogue and things. This is about a dictator who steals a billion dollars. Why a dictator has to steal a billion dollars from someone else is a bit baffling. Can’t you just do that from the people you dictate over? Either way Jake Gyellenhall and Henry Cavill get to wander around doing seemingly unrelated things with guns.

Tim then has Palm Springs[2020]. You’ve seen Ground Hog Day? What if that premise occurred at a resort on a wedding day? And the only person alert to it, one of the Lonely Island guys, pulls a girl into a cave and she’s now aware of the time loop. That’s of course ignoring JK Simmons occasionally showing up to shoot at him with a crossbow.
