Is it just me, or did I hear Andy audibly sigh (or groan) during Joey’s intro to the show?
I’m not sure what that was, but i forgot to edit it out.
While you were reading the forum post about moe, I was thinking “You know what would make a good anime, or at least an anime that one anime podcaster would like? A moe anime, but all the characters are part of a yandere harem. When they’re not trying to kill the bland MC, they’re sitting around talking about him, and topics related to him”
I’d watch that, instead of the typical moe.

Wait, wait, wait, Joey! Hold the bloody phone! I feel like there’s a bit of hypocrisy, there. I think I mostly agree with you on the whole loli debate: I think that between loli hentai and the real thing, pedophillia is WAY WAY WAAAAAY worse. I also agree that if the drawn stuff keeps offenders from offending, that’s a great bonus. However, I can’t sit her listening to you call people “butthurt” and say “it’s just drawings” when you have a visceral reaction to girls and women getting slapped around in anime. It’s just drawings, right? What’s the big deal? No real women are getting harmed, after all. 😉
Correct, which is why I simply just don’t watch those anime. I don’t actively seek to destroy said anime or call the ones who make such material sick in the head drunks who would slap their wife around were it not for the alternative.
I might complain about something, but I don’t try to start a social media war because I’m not cool with women being hurt.
Wait, now I’m confused. Didn’t you make a very passionate point some episodes ago about how equality meant women shouldn’t expect to not receive violence simply for being women and that they should take their lumps like anyone else. And now you’re saying you’re not cool with women getting hurt. I feel like the two views don’t quite mesh. Should women be treated differently from men when it comes to violence or should they not?
A better question is why the hell is “women should get punched too” you first thought when it comes to equality….maybe just don’t punch anyone.
Like I said in a comment on an earlier video I’m a pacifist. I really DO think no one should get punched. But for me that doesn’t extend to fiction, where anything goes as far as I’m concerned. It’s not real, so a creator can do whatever they want.
And it’s not that this is the first thing that comes to mind in regards to equality, it was simply the topic of discussion right now. Though as a pacifist it just strikes me as odd to be totally fine with violent content where one sex is the target but be unsettled with violent content where another sex is the target.
I’ve never really made a difference myself. Violence is violence and taking a stand against some violence but not all just strikes me as kind of a hollow gesture.
Ryo, my thoughts are this.
A guy punches me, I punch back. However currently if a girl punches me, all I can do is walk away.
Equality would have me punch the girl back too.
I’m not saying I’d start shit so I can go around advocating to punch women, but don’t expect me to not hit back if you try and take it to physical violence.

I don’t like seeing women hurt, emotionally or physically. If I see a guy, or girl, hurting another girl I have almost always intervened. But if you punch me, I’m going to punch back.
Equality and violence are two different things.
Well, in this case they are kinda intersecting. It just makes little sense to me to argue for gender equality on a matter on the one hand and still say you’d treat people differently depending on gender in regards to that matter.
Iunno, maybe it’s because I’m a pacifist so I just see violence overall as bad (At least IRL). Considering violence against men to be less severe than violence against women just doesn’t grok with me. It’s all violence and it all sucks. Like I said earlier.

So I just wanted to say Andrew was more or less correct about the movie where food is the bad guy, The Stuff. Except it doesn’t *try* to kill people necessarily, but it sort of takes over anyone who eats it (they do eventually die). They’re so addicted to its tasty goodness that they eat it constantly and exclusively, and get everyone else around to try it too, and eventually it becomes a big corporate marketed product. Junk food satire horror sci-fi! A bizarre and fun watch for anyone who hasn’t seen it.
