Popcorn Pulse 269: Ruthless Girl

It seems there’s another superhero movie out and we need to watch it. Who’s making this demand of us? No one in particular that we can point to. It’s just a sort of need. We can feel it. They call to us. Like the pirates of a certain ship in a much better movie. So we watched Supergirl[2026].

Superman’s cousin is not like other superheroes. She drinks and she has a dog. She likes to part and fuck around away from earth. Also she’s not like Clark, have we mentioned she’s not like Clark? Until a sad little girl shows up and is seeking vengeance from the bad guy who killed her parents. Kara won’t help until Superdog gets poisoned by bad man and he’s the only one with an antidote. Also Jason Momoa shows up as Lobo and he knows exactly what kind of movie he’s in.

Weltall then has Project Hail Mary[2026]. It’s Mr He’s-Just-Like-Me-Fr-Fr as a scientist. He’s on a last ditch mission to investigate a solar system. This is because earth, and a bunch of other solar systems, are finding there’s something messing with the solar output. Gosling plays Grace who’s the only surviving scientist who wakes up from cryo/hyper/whatever sleep once the ship is close enough.

Tim has Ruthless[2023]. It’s about revenge, which is apparently Tim’s favorite kind of movie to review. Dermot Mulroney plays Harry, a wrestling coach. His daughter gets killed and now he’s sad. Then a student of his gets kidnapped and now he’s really angry. So he goes on a one man mission to kill the kidnappers and get her back.
