It’s been a very busy week. People constantly running around, doing things. Having all sorts of consequences. Honestly we’re happy that it’s been as calm as we can hope for as summer winds down. We’ll just be glad to not have to run the air conditioning all the damn time. Maybe have an excuse to wear a hoody outside and take along our concealed manga. But that’s a whole other show. We have Vengeance: A Love Story[2017].
A movie based on a Joyce Carol Oates novel. Which doesn’t really narrow it down. If you don’t know, she’s the kind of person that takes the headlines and makes a fiction story of it. Whether this has anything to do with a real event, we don’t care. Cage plays a detective who’s out for revenge when the system fails to take care of scum bags. We spend a lot of the film building up to it though.
Weltall then has the show The Mentalist[2008]. It’s a cop buddy show and it’s about a titular mentalist. Mentalists are magicians that don’t like to be compared to guys that work with cards or props. The main through line is mister mentalist looking for a killer in between the event of the week. Things may go downhill a bit once the FBI gets involved but Weltall watched the whole thing.
Tim then has There’s Nothing Out There(1991). It’s a movie made in the late eighties that tries to do the self aware horror comedy. There’s a mutant swamp creature that pops up and kills people. It can also hypnotize people by shooting beams into their eyes. And it’s easily repelled by shaving cream. Tim also digs into the career that the director had after this movie got made.
