What if you were a cop but racist? That’s the bold thought experiment that Hollywood dared to ask with the movie Heart Condition(1990). But, stay with us here, what if he were a likable schlub who learned the error of his ways? So you cast Bob Hoskins as a cop who gets a heart transplant from Denzel Washington who now haunts Hoskins. Also they were both in love with the same prostitute who used to have a heroin problem. Nothing you haven’t seen before.
Next up is Tim with The Runner[2026]. Gal Gadot was given the headline in another movie. This time she’s a woman lawyer in London and has a son who’s kidnapped. Because the villain wants her to kill her star witness or else he’ll kill her son. Also he wants her to travel on foot because there’s less room for her to have shennanigans. At least we have the acting skill of Gal to keep the pace and the drama up, right?
Weltall then has Women In Trouble[2009]. You might think this would be about women being asked over to Harvey Weinstein’s apartment after hours. It’s about a porn star who decides to do something after finding out she’s pregnant. There’s also other women who hang around and attempt to do things. If we’re sounding a little vague, that’s because there’s less substance than a melting aspic. The director is trying to play into the shock thriller in line with Tarantino’s work.
