Either we’re buying in bulk or we have a coupon. Because once again we have another twofer. Perhaps it’s time to open a bulk review store where you can roll around. It might do gangbusters if we offer hotdogs and soda for a competitive price. Perhaps something like a dollar thirty five to undercut someone else. So if you find us dead, a certain CEO is responsible for it.
First up is the movie everyone was talking about because of a recent papal passing, Conclave[2024]. It stars Ralph Finnes as a cardinal who’s appointed to oversee the conclave, which is the process of selection of the new pope. When all the cardinals get there, there’s one more than they’re expecting. Can’t wait for the secretly appointed, unknown cardinal to come into play out of left field.
Next up is the film from a few years ago, The Two Popes[2019]. It’s based on a play that was made after Pope Benedict stepped down and Francis stepped up. It mostly serves to make the popes as the author’s mouthpiece and to give Francis an incredible amount of praise. And at least Anthony Hopkins got a paycheck out of the whole thing.
