Spike TV has announced that it will be airing the Movie Sequel to Afro Samurai, “Afro Samurai: Resurrection” In January 2009. They have also said that Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels) and Mark Hamil (Star Wars) will add their voices into the mix. Spike had originally aired Afro Samurai in the U.S. back in January 2007. Funimation and Gonzo will be working together on the release. Also Samuel L. Jackson will be returning as Executive Producer and title character.
Lucy will take the role of Sio, Afro’s nemesis. While Hamil will play Bin, the manservant and protector of Sio. Yuri Lowenthal (Naruto) will reprise his role as Kuma. New Trailers for the movie and X-Box game demos were released at Comic-Con International in San Diego. Funimation Plans to release DVDs in February of 2009. Funimation also holds rights for all toys and merchandising for Afro Samurai. The game will also be available on the PS3 Console.
