Episode 438: Kanojo Collection

Perhaps we should just change the title of this podcast to “Red drinks a lot, please someone stop him!” No? Oh well, I tried at least. This week Ichigo is still MIA, with no word on when we will be seeing his return to the show, so it’s just TC and Red as usual. The two of them kick off with some news about losing American habits in Japan, learning Canadian habits outside Japan, and Dragon Ball mugs with heart shaped Dominos Pizza. Then it’s onto the discussion thread, this week being asked what our favorite anime catchphrase is! Listen closely and see if you can count all the times Red flubbers his words. And finally it’s more reviews, TC sails away on the Kantai Collection while Red enters the Harem Matrix with Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara.

  1. To correct you all, according to the “Full Faith and Credit” clause in the US constitution, should someone marry in a state regardless of whether it is straight, gay or lesbian marriage, that marriage is held up in any other state. This clause also affects various licenses, which is why a NYC drivers license is legal in any other state

  2. @Brandon E: Yes, but many states don’t recognize those marriages regardless. It becomes Federal vs State at that point, both sides with good arguments. And that NYS license is only legal for driving through that state, if you move there you need to get a license for that state.

  3. If Haruhi was too confusing, then you would never have gotten through its Endless Eight. To explain the basics, Haruhi, it turns out, is a god. At one point, she specifically says that she wants to discover ESPers, time travellers, and aliens. So who joins her club? An alien robot (Yuki Nagato) an ESPer {Itsuki Koizumi) and a time traveler (Mikuru Asahina). She appears both as her ditzy young self and as an older, wiser (sexier) woman.

BTW, Red claims to not know things that “old man” Time Chaser grew up with, but in a previous episode, Red referenced The Karate Kid, and now he referenced The Flintstones, which definitely didn’t have its original run when Red was alive. Hey, it’s possible that Red really doesn’t get some of those old man references, but maybe he’s just playing possum.
