Manga Pulse 311: 12 Dragons

Another recommendation for Tim this episode as he tackles 12 Beast. Unlike when he fell through that portal to an alternate, ancient Greece where legends lived, he isn’t tackling an actual dozen beasts. Instead he reviews a harem Manga that attempts to fulfill a number of beast girl fetishes. Does he hate it or merely loathe it? You may be surprised when you listen.

Weltall reviews The Dragon Next Door and complains about the music he plays late at night. And then he talks about the Manwha of the same title. Wacky adventures with a next door neighbor who happens to be a mystical creature? Surely, this will be new and original. If nothing else it manages to escape the sitcom laugh track which is comedy poison.

After reading a lone email-thank you solitary listener!-we dredge up an old tradition of mocking Craigslist ads. Under guidance from our live listeners, who always enjoy input on our recordings, we read through some hapless crazies looking for love. Be terrified by the lonely folks in Inland Empire, California and Houston, Texas. Continue reading “Manga Pulse 311: 12 Dragons”

Episode 404: Captain's Log: One Week in Tokyo

We’ve got a great show for you this week. Between Ichigo’s cold and Red’s booze, hilarity ensues. As usual we do the news, read the discussion question responses, and then review some anime. This week its Captain Earth, Isshuukan Friends, and Tokyo Ravens. Don’t miss it!

Popcorn Pulse 14: Super Foods

There are movies which, through wonderful accident of providence, are so bad they remain locked in a vault. These abominations presumably remain in the same warehouse along with the Ark of the Covenant and Harrison Ford’s motivation. Until the dark day some ignorant buffoon steals what they believe to be a treasure and unleash it upon the world.

This is how we ended up with Foodfight! on home video. Voice acted by a stable of people that haven’t been relevant since Saddam Hussein was looking for a spider hole, this movie offers Tim and Weltall everything. Watch as Charlie Sheen does an awful Bogart impression and flirts dangerously with an under age girl. Listen as Hilary Duff delivers her lines with the gusto of a McDonald’s patron requesting a combo. Thrill as the CGI makes the puppets of the original Thunderbirds look natural and flawless. After the news, we finish off with Millennium’s review of Trials Fusion and talk of my newest TV obsession! All this and more up next on VGP186! -Aki Continue reading “VG Pulse 186: Newz Fusion”

Popcorn Pulse 13: Outragous Science

We discuss an evil corporations Latin cousin, then we invite you to follow us through our adventure of My Science Project. Back in middle school I did a science project about the effects of different color lights on plant growth. I even used a black light which made the damn thing grow like crazy. Oh and the movie was bad.

The Enchanter decides to break our non rules and talk about something you have probably already seen. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I have nothing funny or witty to say about this. Just listen to him blab about it.

Weltall is Outraged. Mostly because he can’t seem to describe anything in this movie well enough not to sound like a lunatic. Continue reading “Popcorn Pulse 13: Outragous Science”

Manga Pulse 309: Squee Gee Bee

Within the rotting halls of the internet, there remain some hidden gems. Like a fabled archaeologist of yore, Tim and Weltall search for things which belong in a museum. Sure, it’s a manga museum in Japan and half of what they find wouldn’t be allowed in as it’s foreign and anathema to the country but still.

Tim tackles Gwi, which may or not rhyme with squee. We could have looked it up, the internet is right there after all, but we are incredibly lazy. There’s some hacky and slashy which Tim will discuss, at length, within the episode. Weltall roman greco wrestles The Gamer which he found because he’s such a big fan of Gerard Butler. While you should listen for details, it may be the only comic we’ve reviewed that actually has an excuse to assign levels to characters.

For a finale we read through a list of conspiracy myths that a bunch of people believe and were willing to say so to a survey. Listen to us prove that we’re definitely not experts on medicine or other subjects as we tear through them. Continue reading “Manga Pulse 309: Squee Gee Bee”
