Episode 489: Rich Otaku

Yes it’s safe, sexually suggestive Red is gone this week. In fact, Ryo even prepared herself for his stupid antics only to be surprised at how much of a straight man Red would play. This week we’ve got news about life-sized figurines, Red’s trip to visit his mom, and Ryo’s efforts at creating a video presentation. As for reviews, Ryo starts off with the father and daughter anime “Sweetness and Lightning” and Red brings up the rear with the past life Seiken Tsukai no World Break.

  1. Thanks for a great episode. I loved sweetness and lightning! It was the perfect stress reliever for after an episode of re:zero. Red do you think you could squeeze in a review of shimoneta. Your comentary and Ryos reaction to it would be great fun (plus there is a pseudo yandere). As always thanks for everything!!!!!!

  2. I’m a food scientist (well, technically, a Senior Technologist). I do work in an office but also in a lab. And yes, I went to culinary for 2 years, then 2 years of Culinary Nutrition. I skipped BOCES in high school because I was heavily into academics and arts courses (and frankly the circles I ran in were pretty disdainful of BOCES – yeah we were kind of intellectual a-holes). It still worked out alright.

Somehow I’m not surprised Red didn’t fall into line in culinary school – it’s kind of like kitchen bootcamp. Given Red’s general trouble with authority figures I don’t see that working out well. 😛

  3. Coming on here really makes me sad now I’ve been listening to this podcast since episode five when I was 13 I’m 21 now and it makes me sad to see things get like this Ifor it’s money I want to donate whatever I can I just don’t want to see this end it is making me tear up thinking about it.

  5. For some reason, Red saying “mommy” felt weird to me. Maybe porn has ruined it, maybe someone who’s not 8 saying it is what’s weird about it.

Once you go assigned seating in movie theaters, you never go back- that’s the name of my porno.

Speaking of porno, uh, Ryo, what is this video presentation you’re doing rated? Is it just a bunch of black bars all over the screen?

OK, Riddle me this, Ryo and Red: how does a man- who has told us more than once that he’s not into love, AND he loves the yandere- going to have children at any point in the future? Adoption? Has his whole personal philosophy changed?

Good luck to Red in his quest for higher education. I was an English major, so my degree meant nothing; it helps when I want to shame people for bad grammar, but little else. What really means something in the work world are skills and experience.
