I am going to have to check out Space Dandy. It sounds like all three of you saw it; did any of you catch the simulcast dub? If so, how did it compare? I’ve never watched a simulcast dub, but I’m considering giving it a shot.
(And for posterity, I feel compelled to note that I don’t give OreImo and Photokano an honourable mention for 2013. I called them disappointing and labelled the former as pandering and the latter as creepy.)
There was a lot of hype surrounding Space Dandy before it was released. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to that hype. I’d rate the first episode as complete crap, although the second episode was an improvement at just crap. At this rate it might be average by the end of its run. Haven’t seen the third episode yet because it keeps getting bumped down the queue by better shows (which are all of them so far).
I’ve seen the first couple of episodes of pretty much everything now and it’s a pretty poor season (at least with regards to new shows).
The only (new) shows i think are above average are:
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha
Sakura Trick
Sekai Seifuku
Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta
Wizard Barristers
Thankfully there are still a lot of good ongoing shows from the previous season(s) to take up the slack, plus a few new seasons of existing shows.
The spring season can’t come soon enough.
