Episode 543: Winter 2018 Previews #2

Our second week of previews, this time featuring more alcohol! Slurry Joseph aside, IRL news features more Fire Emblem Heroes, Overwatch, and a bit about a broken dryer. Then in industry news we learn that Dragon Ball Super is coming to an end, and that now is a good time to be in Tokyo if you want to get into the anime industry. At last the previews come around. Andrew brings us a story of young girl falling for a much older guy and hot boys doing attractive boy things, Joseph meanwhile has a female honey badger killing things and the second season of an anime about Japanese snacks.

Episode 542: Winter 2018 Previews #1

It’s that time of year again, as Anime Pulse ditches the reviews and talks about the new anime of the season. Before that though Andrew and Joseph talk about their weeks, with more news on Fire Emblem Heroes and the other main jobs that both the hosts work on outside of AP. In industry news, Andrew has a depressing speech from Goku’s Japanese VA and Joseph invites the creative listeners to submit their “other word” manga ideas to be possibly picked up by a publisher. Finally the previews happen and while they are a bit more speedy, there is a total of five previews to start off. Andrew theming his around Moe Blob, and Joseph around being stuck in a video game world.

Popcorn Pulse 77: The Last Jed

The whole internet is talking about it. It’s the big budget movie that has ignited thousands of pointless think pieces on the internet. No other recent movie has been surrounded by such controversy as Pitch Perfect 3. Or it could be Star Wars The Last Jedi.

We have quite a bit to say about the thing. Tim complains about the bombers they use in place of the canonical Y-Wings. Wetall, and the greater internet, complains about arcing lasers in space. Weird sub plots, bad characterization, and tension killing jokes abound. Though if you’re anything like our live listener Algazero, skip to the forty two minute mark to miss out on spoilers. Continue reading “Popcorn Pulse 77: The Last Jed”

Manga Pulse 372: Perfect Sherlock

Can you imagine if there was a Rick and Morty manga? The combined smugness of the weebs and R&M fans would be enough to destroy the world as we know it. Crushing everything into a ball or self righteous, self referential memes that exist only to masturbate the knowing. Continue reading “Manga Pulse 372: Perfect Sherlock”

After Dark 22: Party in the DFD

Hello and welcome dear listeners to another episode filled with things that maybe you could have lived without, like semen eating slugs. Hope you like bugs! Get nasty on this episode of Anime Pulse After Dark.  Continue reading “After Dark 22: Party in the DFD”

Popcorn Pulse 76: Christmas Nerd

Seasons sure are a thing. A thing which we here are very bad at observing for theme shows. Mostly because of our secret third bost, laziness. The sloth gremlin must be out for the holidays itself because we managed to prepare for this show prior to the cacalendar.

Which brings us to our main feature, Silent Night, Deadly Night 2. While Tim was aware of the film, having seen the first, he’d only known about the sequel via the Garbage Day bit that was viral ages ago. Which you should watch if you aren’t familiar. While Weltall had seen neither the clip nor the first movie that worked out as this movie is comprised of the highlights of the first movie. The rest is chunks of originality thrown into the movie loaf before being half-baked. Continue reading “Popcorn Pulse 76: Christmas Nerd”

After Dark 21: Proactive & Nasty

Manga Pulse 371: Helcker Selcker

Uh yes, I’d like to order a large pizza half pesto and half chicken and avocado. What do you mean you only serve Tex-Mex? And that my order sounds stupid? Well I’m just going to back my car out of the wall I broke and go to a quality establishment. Good day to you. Continue reading “Manga Pulse 371: Helcker Selcker”

Popcorn Pulse 75: Donut Assassins

I’ll tell you why I wasn’t at elf practice. Because I dream of larger things. Even larger than the red coated fat man himself. I dream of a world where children will make their own toys and pay us for the privilege. Where curled shoes and pointy ears will be signs of repect amd not ridicule. In order to make that happen I had to skip out on elf practice, Spanky.

For their dual review, Tim and Weltall pick 13 Assassins[2011]. They found out that it happens to be a remake of another Japanese classic. The story centers around the evil brother of the Shogun who is gaining political power. To prevent this dangerous man from ascending to power, thirteen men will attempt to manipulate and maneuver him into a trap. It’s a well done political and tactical thriller that culminates in an amazing action set piece we were highly entertained by. Continue reading “Popcorn Pulse 75: Donut Assassins”
