Got a good show this week. I’m joined by listener Bionic86 for his first guest host appearance. We talk about the news and review some Anime. Bionic86 reviews Working!! and I review Ookami-san to shichinin no nakama-tachi. Don’t miss it!

  1. Great show! I enjoy the guest hosts. It’s always nice to hear different perspectives. However, I have to agree with Bionic86’s stance on Funimation’s streaming. I don’t think the ads are long at all. They add up to about 2-2.5 minutes total in my experience. That’s what you’d get in a single commercial break for any half-hour length show in the U.S. They’re no longer than any commercial breaks I’ve seen on any other ad-supported streaming sites. I think it’s a great legal alternative to torrenting licensed titles. If I can get decent subs within days of the Japanese release legally and for free, I’m all about supporting it.

  2. I certainly didn’t mean to insinuate that legal alternatives to piracy are a bad thing. I actually subscribe to *******roll and do use Funimation’s site occasionally. One other issue I have with Funimation’s video player is the fact that ads tend to repeat themselves (while watching Suzuka, I saw the same ad for juicy fruit probably 100 times). Also, I feel they need to improve the timeliness of their simulcasts. (Ookamisan is behind by three weeks).

Please let it be known that, while I gave Funimation shit this episode, I do support their online efforts and encourage them to continue improving their service.

  3. This week was another good show. Funimation has really been stepping up their services and I hope they can keep improving. I enjoyed the guest host and wish Ichigo the best of luck in finding more people to bring on. Great job Ichigo!
