Episode 535: Okusama ga Creators

This week on Anime Pulse Joseph has a new computer and Andrew has a cold, but a simple cold can’t stop Joseph’s co-host from being on thew show. Industry news brings us a follow up to the article on the guy discovering his friend is a Trap, as well as a piece on why you should never trust your girlfriend around your anime collection. And in the world of reviews, Joseph talks about a semi-hentai and Andrew is annoyed with a wimpy wet noodle of an excuse for a main male protagonist.

  1. Heyo! Gonna do some chiming in this week yet again!
Regarding your brief query about anime featuring transsexual main characters there’s Hourou Musuko, which is a drama that tackles the topic of transsexuality with a lot of maturity and respect (I.E unlike 99% of all shows that try and bring it up.). If you’ve ever got the time and think it’d be of interest I say give it a watch.

As for Souta… yeah. He really got on my nerves as the series progressed. He sits on this possibly crucial piece of information for half a season and refuses to tell it because it’ll bring up his “dark” past, causing a ton of difficulty for the other main characters. Who thought this was a good idea? xD

    1. Howdy!

Ah yes, good call. Back before it had an anime I actually read a fair amount of the Hourou Musuko manga. I did hear of the anime adaptation, I just never got round checking it out or really heard much chat about it. Thanks for the reminder, I think I will some time.

Oh boy Souta, he really gets too much of a major role given his contributions and since I assume you’ve seen it, wouldn’t you agree his ‘dark’ past doesn’t warrant how much of a sour puss he is? I assume the idea behind him was to create a grounded character that the reader base of the light novel could relate to. Though when I put it that way it sounds insulting really eh?

      Peace,
      Chandrew

      1. Aye, it got to the point where it was just plain annoying how he clung to this past trauma and refused to move on. As someone who blames himself for the death of a person you’d think he’d be quick to share what he knows to make sure the uniform princess doesn’t end up killing anyone. I imagine he’d hate himself even more if she ended up with blood on her hands because he was too weak to share his knowledge.

        -Crooh

        1. Yeah I agree, I think the part about him hating himself more is part of what Magane was talking about when she was grilling him. He’s got the self centered sort of personality whereby hating himself gives himself an excuse to bask in self pity.

Moral: Don’t be like Souta…. and Meteora is waaaaaay out of his league lol
