Podcast Awards 2015 – Nominations Round

Hello everyone, Red here. As you may or may not know the 2015 Podcast Awards are now beginning, and as they always do it starts out with nominations. We were able to make it into the nominations and into the main voting round last year, but we fell short in the final voting round behind The Moth. Personally I think NPR related shows hog way too much of the podcast awards, but as they are a publicly sponsored production I can’t rail on them for being corporate slaves.

So as with last year I would like to take a moment and ask that you guys, our listeners, our fans, our members, our subscribers, everyone, go and fill out the nominations for the Podcast Awards. I’d like to see us shoot for thePeople’s Choice and theCultural/Artscategories, so go ahead and add us in for both of them.

Now you can only vote ONCE, so if you have any other podcasts you’d like to submit for a certain category, take your time and do so. Now if you don’t have any other podcasts or you don’t want to be bothered to do more work then I’m asking you to do, that’s ok, you can just fill out the two categories I’d like Anime Pulseto be entered into and submit that.

Here is the link to click that will take you to the Podcast Awards website:

http://podcastawards.com

Assuming we make it past nominations, then I’ll make another post to remind everyone to vote.

I’ll also mention this on our next show this coming sunday, just in case you don’t visit the front page as often as I do.

Thank you for your time, and wish us good luck!

Episode 434: Winter Previews #1

Do you feel that? A winter chill has brought us a brand new season of anime, and thanks to Jack Frost all three of the musketeers are here to bring you the sneak peeks into what this season has to offer. But first it’s news, as TC talks about Toonami, Red cooks up some Ice Cream Curry, and Ichigo morns the loss of the opera singer behind Ghost in the Shell’s soundtrack. Then the trio swings into a new Discussion Thread, where the question this week asked you what you wouldchange in one of your favorite animes. Finally Ichigo, TC, and Red delve into previews. Ichigo brings to the tableShinmai Maou no Testament andAnsatsu Kyoushitsu, Red hasAbsolute Duo andSeiken Tsukai no World Break, and TC introducesKantai Collection: KanColle andKoufuku Graffiti. Sorry about TCs audio quality, without the waifu around he’s just a huge mess and plum forgot to check his wavelengths as we got started. I promise if you put up with it this time, I’ll be sure to remind him to step out of thetardis before recording next week.

Script 2 Script 3: Water Fight

In this episode we tackle the movie that was as fleeting as the fame of its star, Robert Pattinson. Of course we’re talking about the Twilight star’s attempt to throw off the chains of vampire typecasting and become a serious actor in Water for Elephants[2011]. He’s accompanied by Reese Witherspoon who’s character is younger than his while she’s a decade his senior. Also Christoph Waltz who plays an evil Nazi working in a circus. Episode 433: The Daily Lives of a Manga Shop's Employees

What a show, what a SHOW! I tell ya folks, if you’ve ever wanted to hear an angry Red then prepare yourselves because you’re about to. TC and Red jump right into news from the past week, talking about the successful Clannad Kickstarter, million dollar mechs you can ride around in, and then Red spikes his audio as he pummels BBC Radio for their ridiculous special on Japan’s manga and anime culture. Be warned, Red yells and swears like you’ve never heard before, so hide all the children and cover your ears; it’s a doozy… Poor Red. Then to chill down, TC invites Red back with the Discussion Thread that was promised the week before: What are 3 of your top favorite anime EDs? And finally, TC and Red do a joint review on the slice-of-life comedyDenki-gai no Honya-san. If you happen to see a tall, devilishly handsome, and angry drunk stumbling about, please send him home, that’s probably Red. Next week starts previews, so look forward to that!

Popcorn Pulse 29: Singlecorn End

Confusion and distraction run amok in this episode as Tim and Weltall do their best to talk about late nineties classic, Dante’s Peak(1996). In it, James Bond loses a girlfriend to a volcano and then declares war on lava spewing mountains. After killing a number of gelatinous talk show hosts, he takes a vacation in the state of Washington where he hopes to wait out the years until legalization.

However, being a vulcanologist, Bond has spent many a days and nights blaspheming the ancient Greek god. Angered by Bond’s hubris, he throws a hammer at a nearby mountain, causing it to turn into an active volcano. Bond must then save Sarah Connor, two whiny kids and a dog before they become part of the future exhibit, Pompei 2 the revengance. Continue reading “Popcorn Pulse 29: Singlecorn End”

Popcorn Pulse 28: Assault on Time

Chance can be a fickle master at the best of times and often leaves you when you need it most. And so it was for Wetall when Tim got to choose the movie for the joint review this episode. Tim picked the original Assault on Precinct 13(1976) by John Carpenter.

Tim likes it for the atmosphere being an action film shot in the style of a horror movie. Weltall was frustrated by the incredibly slow pacing at the beginning and the seemingly senseless direction. Though we both agreed some of the lines were hilarious, unintentionally, and the titular assault was fun. Continue reading “Popcorn Pulse 28: Assault on Time”
